Crow Cawcus takes over Auburn

Crows will take center stage in downtown Auburn later this month as the city rolls out its first-ever Crow Cawcus celebration.

The two-day event on February 20 and 21 will feature crow-themed food, drinks, music, art, and activities at more than 20 locations across the city. Organizers released a detailed schedule and map highlighting 23 participating spots throughout downtown.

Festivities begin Friday, February 20, with live music at Moondog’s Lounge from 7 to 10 p.m., including Jamie Notarthomas performing “The Cayuga County Crow Convention.” A large crow sculpture sponsored by Regenerations will stand at the State Street Event Plaza, and Reuse Refuge will host a scavenger hunt contest through February 25.

Saturday, February 21, starts early at 6 a.m. with themed offerings at Roast & Toast, including the “Crow’s Oath” smoothie, crow cookies, and three-bean vegan chili. Auburn Bagel Co. will offer a black olive cream cheese special.

The Auburn Public Theater will host a winter market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., while Seymour Library will offer crow crafts, coloring, puzzles, and a themed book display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Schweinfurth Art Center will invite visitors to create crow masks from noon to 4 p.m., and Willard Chapel will offer tours, trivia, and a crow-themed bean bag toss.

Restaurants and bars will lean into the theme throughout the day. Parker’s 129 will serve Crow’s Blood red sangria and a charcuterie board. The Refinery at Hilton Garden Inn will offer samples from Montezuma Winery’s crow series from 2 to 5 p.m. and host themed karaoke from 9 p.m. to midnight. A.T. Walley will serve “CROWder” paired with an Old Crow Bourbon cocktail from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. Moro’s Table will feature “Crow’s Nest” fries and a blackberry bourbon smash from 4 to 8 p.m. The Armory Speakeasy at Prison City Pub & Brewery will offer themed cocktails, chicken chili, tarot card readings, and temporary crow tattoos from 5 to 9 p.m.

Timothy Lennon’s Crow Mobile will park next to A.T. Walley from 1 to 3 p.m., and the Auburn Public Theater will host Grammy-nominated Professor Louie & The Crowmatix from 7 to 9 p.m.

The event map shows participating businesses, galleries, historic sites, and parking locations spread throughout downtown Auburn.

Organizers invite the public to explore downtown and take part in the city’s first Crow Cawcus celebration.
