Police charged a Geneva man with felony assault following a child abuse investigation.

Anthony L. Morgan Jr., 33, of Geneva, was arrested after officers responded to the Boys and Girls Club on Feb. 9 to assist Ontario County Child Protective Services.

Police said the investigation revealed that on the evening of Feb. 8, Morgan struck a child under the age of 17 multiple times with a leather belt inside his residence. Officers reported the child sustained physical injuries as a result.

Morgan was taken into custody and charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

He was processed at the Geneva Police Department and transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
