A local whiskey maker is betting on foot traffic with a downtown move, according to The Citizen. Cellar & Folly Whiskey Co. plans to relocate from York Street to Genesee Street later this spring, taking over the former Thirsty Pug space.
Co-owner Nick Streeter says the new spot will dramatically expand the tasting room, boosting capacity from about 15 people to roughly 50. The move will also allow the distillery to shift more of its production operations downtown, including blending and flavor infusions.
The current York Street location will close March 28. While most sales still happen at events and retailers, owners say the downtown setting fits Auburn’s growing food-and-drink scene.
