The Town of Canandaigua is looking for residents who want to help plan and support community events throughout the year.
Town officials say they are recruiting new volunteer members for the Special Events Committee, which plays a key role in organizing and supporting popular, family-friendly events. Committee members help brainstorm ideas, assist with planning and logistics, and promote community pride.
The committee supports several major events, including Halloween Trunk or Treat, now in its seventh year. The event was held at Outhouse Park and Motion Junction in 2025 and drew more than 2,000 attendees. Members also design and support the town’s Fourth of July parade float, which has won awards each year for its creative design.
The group is also actively planning the 2026 Winter Wonderland at Onanda Park and assists with smaller events as needed throughout the year.
“No prior event planning experience is required,” said Greg Reynolds, director of parks and recreation. “We’re looking for community-minded residents who enjoy working as part of a team and want to help create events that families and neighbors look forward to.”
Residents interested in joining the committee are asked to submit a letter of intent and resume to Reynolds at [email protected]. Applications will be forwarded to Oksana Fuller, chair of the Special Events Committee.
More information about the committee is available on the town website.
