Bundled-up demonstrators filled downtown Ithaca streets Friday, demanding an end to federal immigration enforcement sweeps, according to The Ithaca Voice.
Hundreds marched down Seneca Street in single-digit temperatures as part of a nationwide “ICE OUT” protest tied to recent deaths involving federal immigration officers. Protesters waved signs, chanted anti-ICE slogans, and blocked traffic with volunteer marshals while police kept a low profile.
Local unions, advocacy groups, and progressive organizations backed the rally, while some Ithaca businesses closed or donated profits in solidarity with a national call for a general strike. Organizers urged residents to stay engaged locally and support immigrant neighbors as federal enforcement actions continue.
