Deputies arrested a Rochester woman following an investigation into fraudulent credit card activity connected to an identity theft case.
Irene M. Webb, 49, was taken into custody Jan. 27 and charged with first-degree identity theft, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office .
Deputies say the investigation began after a report of fraudulent credit card activity was filed in November.
Investigators determined Webb allegedly opened a credit card while impersonating the victim and charged $2,367.42 to the account. Authorities say no payments were made toward the balance.
The credit card was reportedly opened Aug. 1 at the Great Brook Apartments in Victor.
Webb was taken to CAP Court following her arrest and later released.
She is scheduled to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date.
