Motorists traveling through the Village of Clyde should expect delays starting next week as bridge repair work gets underway on Route 414.
The New York State Department of Transportation announced that a section of State Route 414, also known as Main Street, near the CSX Railroad tracks will be reduced to a single lane beginning Monday, Feb. 2.
Traffic through the area will alternate using temporary traffic signals while crews make repairs to the bridge that carries the roadway over the railroad tracks and the Erie Canal. The lane reduction will remain in place until further notice.
State officials say drivers should anticipate delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. Construction schedules are weather dependent and could change based on conditions.
DOT officials also reminded motorists to slow down and use caution in work zones. Speeding fines are doubled in work zones, and drivers convicted of two or more work-zone speeding violations could face a license suspension.
