Fed nominee’s roots trace to Colonie

Before Wall Street and Washington, Kevin Warsh sat in a Capital Region classroom, according to State of Politics. President Trump announced Friday he plans to nominate Warsh to lead the Federal Reserve.

Warsh, 55, graduated from Shaker High School in 1988, the North Colonie Central School District confirmed. He would replace Jerome Powell, whose term ends in May, pending Senate confirmation.

Warsh previously served on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, worked in the George W. Bush administration, and later became a fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution. Former teachers praised his drive and independence, calling the nomination a proud moment for the district.
