A town snowplow rolled into a Canandaigua school this week, giving second graders a surprise after a weekend of heavy snowfall and long hours on the road.
The visit happened at Canandaigua Primary–Elementary School, where one plow from the Town of Canandaigua Highway Department took a short break from clearing roads to stop by the campus.
Second-grade students bundled up and stepped outside to see the snowplow up close. The vehicle displayed the name the class had chosen, and students took a quick photo before heading back indoors to warm up.
Teachers and school leaders helped make the visit possible, including second-grade teacher Mrs. Sabin and Principal Emily Bonadonna. The stop gave students a memorable, hands-on look at town equipment they usually only see from a distance.
The visit followed days of round-the-clock work by Highway Superintendent Jim Fletcher and his crew during the recent storm. Despite the demanding schedule, the department made time to connect with the school community.

“After a busy weekend responding to winter weather, it was nice to make a quick stop and share a fun moment with the kids,” Fletcher said. “Seeing their excitement made the extra effort well worth it.”
Town officials also reminded drivers to give snowplows extra space during winter weather. Slowing down and allowing room helps keep both motorists and highway crews safe.
