A domestic disturbance in Seneca Falls led to a late-night arrest and several felony charges after police say a court order was ignored. Officers say the situation escalated beyond the initial call for help.
Town of Seneca Falls police arrested a 37-year-old Auburn man on Jan. 22 following an investigation into a reported domestic incident. Police later identified the man as Justin E. Helmick.
Officers say Helmick got into a physical altercation with the victim and prevented her from contacting 911 for assistance. Police also allege Helmick entered the home of a friend of the victim after she left the scene to separate herself from him.
Investigators said there was an active Class B order of protection in place between the two parties at the time of the incident.
Helmick faces multiple charges, including two counts of criminal contempt in the first degree, one count of burglary in the second degree, and two counts of criminal mischief in the fourth degree. Police transported him to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center to await arraignment.
