The Buffalo Bills have begun their search for a new head coach.
After firing Sean McDermott on Monday, the team launched its interview process Wednesday. Owner Terry Pegula and co-owner Laura Pegula are involved in the process, along with general manager and president of football operations Brandon Beane, assistant general managers Terrance Gray and Brian Gaine, and quarterback Josh Allen.
As interviews are confirmed, the list below will be updated.
Joe Brady – Interview completed on 1/21
Brady, 36, has served as the Bills’ offensive coordinator since midway through the 2023 season, taking over after Ken Dorsey was fired. Prior to joining Buffalo, he held the same role with the Carolina Panthers. Brady has also drawn interest around the league, interviewing for head coaching vacancies with the Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons, and Arizona Cardinals.
Brian Daboll – Interview completed on 1/22
Daboll, 50, is a Western New York native and former Bills offensive coordinator who called plays for quarterback Josh Allen during the first four seasons of his NFL career. He left Buffalo to become head coach of the New York Giants in 2022 and remained in that role until he was fired midway through the 2025 season. Daboll has also drawn interest from other teams, with the Tennessee Titans offering him an offensive coordinator role should he not be hired by the Bills.
Lou Anarumo – Interview completed on 1/22
Anarumo, 59, has spent eight seasons as an NFL defensive coordinator, most notably with the Cincinnati Bengals and most recently with the Indianapolis Colts. He has also interviewed for multiple head coaching vacancies, including with the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans.
Philip Rivers – Interview completed on 1/23
Rivers, 44, came out of retirement in 2025 to play a handful of games for the Indianapolis Colts. Prior to that, he had been retired for five years following a long career with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers and one season with the Colts. However, his only head coaching experience has come at St. Michael Catholic High School.
Mike McDaniel – canceled scheduled meeting on 1/23
McDaniel, 42, was scheduled to meet with the Bills, but canceled the meeting and is expected to join the Los Angeles Chargers as their offensive coordinator.
Anthony Lynn – Interview completed on 1/24
Lynn, 57, has more than 25 years of NFL coaching experience and is a familiar name in Buffalo. He served as the Bills’ offensive coordinator under Rex Ryan and took over as interim head coach for the final two games of the 2016 season after Ryan was fired. A former NFL running back, Lynn has coached in the league since 2000, primarily as a position coach before earning head coaching opportunities. He spent four seasons as head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers from 2017–2020, compiling a 33-31 record with one playoff appearance. Lynn is currently on Dan Quinn’s staff with the Washington Commanders, serving as the run game coordinator.
Anthony Weaver – Interview completed on 1/24
Weaver, 45, served as the Bills’ defensive line coach during the 2013 season. Since 2012, he has worked with six different NFL organizations, including a stint as the Houston Texans’ defensive coordinator in 2020. Most recently, Weaver has worked as the Miami Dolphins’ defensive coordinator during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
Grant Udinski – Interview completed on 1/25
Udinski, 30, is a rising offensive coach under Liam Coen but remains relatively inexperienced at the NFL level. He has just one season of coordinator experience after joining the Jacksonville Jaguars ahead of the 2025 campaign. Prior to that, Udinski spent three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, working on Kevin O’Connell’s staff as an assistant quarterbacks coach. Despite his limited experience, he has generated league interest and recently completed a second interview with the Cleveland Browns for their head coaching vacancy.
