Ontario County DA’s office adds four attorneys

Ontario County’s District Attorney’s Office is bringing in four seasoned attorneys, a move officials say strengthens the office as it manages a demanding workload.

District Attorney Jason MacBride announced the additions this week, saying the combined experience of the new hires will enhance prosecutions across all courts in the county.

“These additions reflect our commitment to building a strong, experienced, and balanced prosecution team,” MacBride said in a statement. “Each of these attorneys brings a depth of knowledge and perspective that will enhance our work across all courts.”

Paul Irving joins the office with more than 30 years of prosecutorial experience. He previously served with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office and the Monroe County Law Department, where he handled complex felony cases and supervised specialized units, including the Gun Bureau and Arson Bureau. His career also includes work in juvenile justice and training prosecutors and investigators.

Nicholas Line comes to Ontario County after working as an assistant district attorney in Chemung County. There, he prosecuted felony and misdemeanor cases, presented cases to grand juries, conducted jury trials, and took part in appellate advocacy. He also served as an instructor at the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy, teaching criminal law fundamentals to police cadets.

Patrick Russi brings decades of experience that span prosecution, private practice, and judicial service. He previously worked as an assistant district attorney in Monroe County and later served as a Town Justice in the Town of Irondequoit for more than a decade. Russi has also taught criminal justice and criminal procedure as an adjunct professor at Monroe Community College and Roberts Wesleyan College.

Kelly Pettrone joins the office after handling serious felony cases at the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office. Her experience includes prosecuting vehicular crimes, felony gun and drug cases, and working in the Special Investigations Bureau. She has conducted numerous jury trials and managed complex cases involving expert witnesses.

“These attorneys significantly enhance our collective experience and strengthen our ability to manage a demanding caseload,” MacBride said. “We are proud to welcome them to the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office.”
