Attempted theft leads to trespass arrest in Waterloo

A late-night call about an attempted theft led to a criminal trespass arrest in the Town of Waterloo.

Seneca County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Waterloo man around 12:23 a.m. Jan. 17, according to Sheriff Tim Thompson.

Deputies arrested Deshawn Carrillo, 34, after responding to a report of two suspects trying to steal a four-wheeler from a shed. Authorities say the suspects fled on foot into a wooded area but deputies located them shortly afterward on a nearby road.

Carrillo was charged with criminal trespass in the third degree, conspiracy in the fifth degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.

A juvenile was also arrested and charged with criminal trespass in the third degree and conspiracy in the sixth degree. Deputies did not release the juvenile’s name due to age.

Deputies transported Carrillo to the Seneca County Jail, where he was held for centralized arraignment proceedings. He is scheduled to appear later in the Town of Waterloo Court.

The juvenile received an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Family Court at a later date. Deputies requested an order of protection for the victim and the juvenile against Carrillo.
