Geneva City Hall gets rare praise

A downtown building many locals pass daily just landed national recognition, according to the Finger Lakes Times. A new survey named Geneva City Hall one of New York’s most “underrated civic gems.”

The ranking came from Love vs. Design, which surveyed more than 3,000 people nationwide about overlooked but beautiful public buildings. Geneva City Hall ranked 18th, praised for its red brick, balanced design, and understated charm near the waterfront.

City leaders welcomed the recognition, saying it validates ongoing efforts to preserve the historic building through upgrades like window replacements and exterior repairs. Officials called City Hall a quiet symbol of civic pride, history, and community values.
