The lights dim this weekend at a longtime Ithaca restaurant as a new island-inspired concept readies to move in, according to 14850.com. MIX Kitchen & Bar will serve its final meals Sunday after nearly a decade on Elmira Road.
Chef and owner Mix Johnson plans to reopen the space in early February as Modern Ohana, featuring tropical island fusion cuisine. Crews already repainted the exterior, with interior updates coming in the next few weeks.
The new restaurant will lean into Pacific Rim and Asian fusion flavors, plus tropical cocktails and tiki classics. The team says the concept focuses on hospitality and community, offering everything from breakfast and brunch to casual lunches and intimate dinners.
