The top-ranked Hobart hockey team erupted for four goals in the third period to secure a 6-1 SUNYAC victory over Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon at the Buffalo State Ice Arena. The Statesmen improved to 16-0-0 overall and 9-0-0 in conference play, extending their win streak to 22 games and unbeaten run to 29.

Senior Tristan Fasig paced Hobart with two goals and an assist, while junior Conor Lally added a goal and two assists. Senior Kahlil Fontana contributed a goal and an assist, and senior Damon Beaver earned his 11th win of the season with 13 saves. Hobart controlled play throughout, finishing with a 41-14 edge in shots on goal and going 2-for-4 on the power play.
Fontana opened the scoring late in the first period with a power-play goal. Lally doubled the lead early in the second before Buffalo State’s Sutton Murray cut the margin to one late in the period. Hobart answered quickly in the third, regaining a two-goal cushion just over a minute in, then broke the game open with three goals in a 47-second span, including an empty-netter from Fasig.
Senior Ignat Belov reached a milestone by appearing in his 100th career game, becoming the third Statesman to do so this season.
Hobart continues its four-game road trip next weekend, facing Plattsburgh on Friday, January 23, at 7 p.m., followed by a matchup with Skidmore on Saturday, January 24, at 4 p.m.
