Hobart hockey dominates Morrisville, extends unbeaten streak to 27

The top-ranked Hobart hockey team dominated Morrisville 8-1 in a SUNYAC matchup at The Cooler on Saturday evening, extending its win streak to 20 games and unbeaten streak to 27.

Twelve different skaters recorded at least one point, with four players posting three points each. Junior Brandon Sacchetti and Easton Ryan each scored twice, while Adam Mendelson, Chris Duclair, Kahlil Fontana, and Ryan added single goals. Senior goaltender Mavrick Goyer made 18 saves for his fifth win of the season. Will Jones scored for Morrisville, while Will Goumas made a career-high 53 saves in net for the Mustangs.

Hobart controlled the pace early, outshooting Morrisville 25-1 in the opening period. Sacchetti opened the scoring 1:24 into the game, assisted by Conor Lally and Bauer Morrissey. Ryan made it 2-0 later in the first. The Statesmen extended their lead in the second period with goals from Mendelson, Sacchetti, and Duclair, including a power-play tally by Duclair. In the third, Fontana, Hovsepyan, and Ryan rounded out the scoring, while Morrisville netted a 5-on-3 goal to break the shutout bid.

Hobart finished with a 61-17 advantage in shots and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Morrisville was 1-for-2 with the man advantage. The victory also marked the 100th career win for members of the Class of 2026, who are 100-5-2 during their time in Geneva.
