Man charged after Cayuga County attempted break in

Deputies arrested a Newfield man following a reported domestic incident in the Town of Genoa.

Terry R. Bruce, 22, was charged with second-degree criminal trespass and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

Deputies said the incident occurred Jan. 3 when Bruce allegedly tried to enter a victim’s bedroom through a window. The incident took place in the presence of a child under 17, according to the sheriff’s office.

Bruce left the scene before deputies arrived. Investigators later applied for an arrest warrant.

On Jan. 5, Bruce turned himself in at the sheriff’s office. He was arraigned, issued an order of protection, and remanded to Cayuga County Jail pending bail or bond.
