Deputies arrested a man after responding to a reported theft at Bass Pro Shops in Auburn.
Brian S. Cuatt Jr., 34, of Auburn was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny following an investigation into a Dec. 16 incident at the store. Deputies said two men entered the marine section and removed security devices from three lithium batteries before leaving without paying.
The total value of the batteries was $1,429.97, according to the sheriff’s office.
Investigators identified Cuatt as one of the suspects. State police later located him in Auburn on an unrelated matter, and deputies took him into custody on an arrest warrant.
Cuatt was turned over to Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment and later returned to Aurelius Town Court.
