BILLS GAME DAY: Buffalo opens postseason against Jaguars in wild-card round (preview)

The Buffalo Bills head back to the postseason for a wild-card Round matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars today at 1 p.m. on CBS. The game will be played at EverBank Stadium, with Buffalo entering as the No. 6 seed and Jacksonville as the No. 3 seed. The Bills finished the regular season 12-5, while the Jaguars went 13-4.

This will be the third-ever playoff meeting between the two franchises and the first since 2018. Buffalo lost each of the first two postseason matchups, both coming in the wild-card round, including the 10-3 defeat in January 2018 that followed the Bills ending their 17-year playoff drought. Overall, the all-time series is even at 10-10.

Josh Allen will make his 14th playoff appearance and second against the Jaguars. Allen is 7-6 in his playoff career but is still searching for his first road playoff win, entering Sunday 0-4 away from home. During the regular season, Allen totaled 39 touchdowns, 13 turnovers, and 4,247 total yards while leading multiple second-half comeback victories.

Jacksonville counters with Trevor Lawrence, who finished the regular season with 38 total touchdowns, 15 turnovers, and 4,366 yards. The Jaguars are one of the league’s hottest teams, riding an eight-game win streak and winning nine of their last 10. Their last loss came in Houston in November. Jacksonville was 7-2 at home this season.

The Bills were 5-3 on the road but won their final three away games. Buffalo’s league-leading rushing attack will be tested against Jacksonville’s top-ranked run defense, while ball security looms large with both teams ranking among the NFL’s best at forcing takeaways.
