History took center stage in Wayne County as Jeannie D’Alessandro raised her right hand and became the county’s first female County Court judge, according to The Times of Wayne County.
Jeannie D’Alessandro, a Palmyra attorney who grew up in Macedon, won the seat in November and officially took office Dec. 30. She replaces retiring Judge Rick Healy and will serve a 10-year term after running on the Republican and Conservative lines.
Speakers praised D’Alessandro’s nearly 27 years of legal experience, including work as a prosecutor, defense attorney, and most recently as first assistant attorney at Wayne County Social Services. New York State Sen. Pam Helming hosted the ceremony and called the moment historic for the county.
