Firefighters in Geneva stayed busy throughout 2025, responding to thousands of calls while continuing training, inspections, and prevention work across the city.
According to a year-end report released by the Geneva Fire Department, crews responded to 2,547 total calls during the year. That included 54 fires, 12 of them classified as structure fires, along with 395 rescue and EMS calls.
Firefighters spent a combined 18,909 hours on scene in 2025. The department also logged 10,215 hours of training, highlighting an ongoing focus on preparedness and safety.
Beyond emergency response, the department remained active in prevention and enforcement efforts. Fire personnel completed 798 code enforcement inspections and installed 131 smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Crews also carried out 85 fire prevention activities throughout the year.
The report credits firefighters with three cardiac arrest saves and 10 overdose reversals in 2025. No fire-related fatalities were reported during the year.
The department closed the report by thanking residents for their continued support, noting that the work extends far beyond fire suppression and into training, inspections, and life-saving interventions that impact the community year-round.
