Auburn council adds new voice

A ceremonial bell rang in the new year as Auburn swore in a familiar face and a newcomer to City Council, according to The Citizen. Veteran councilor Terry Cuddy began his fourth term Thursday while first-time councilor Craig Diego officially joined the five-member body.

The special meeting at Memorial City Hall marked a shift in city politics. Diego, an independent backed by Republicans and Conservatives, ends two years of one-party control after Democrats held every seat. Cuddy emphasized unity and public trust, while Diego stressed independence and a focus on what’s best for the city.

Outgoing councilor Ginny Kent received a key to the city before the brief meeting adjourned.
