Farmington man arrested twice in 24-hours: Domestic incident and animal abuse

Deputies arrested a man twice on Christmas Day following separate incidents at the same Farmington apartment.

Authorities identified the suspect as Keaghn D. Picaro, who lives at 6108 Loomis Road, Room 414, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

One arrest stemmed from a reported domestic incident earlier in the evening. Deputies responded to a 911 call around 6:40 p.m. about a physical, domestic-related altercation at the residence.

Investigators charged Picaro with criminal contempt in the first degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, and resisting arrest. Deputies transported him to the Ontario County Jail, where officials held him pending arraignment.

Earlier that day, deputies also responded to a separate domestic call at the same address around 5:42 p.m. During that investigation, authorities found a 3-month-old domestic shorthair kitten named Smokey injured inside the apartment.

Deputies said Picaro struck the kitten several times after the animal would not use its litter box. The kitten showed swelling in its right hind leg and needed medical care.

The Ontario County Humane Society seized the kitten and determined Smokey suffered a fractured right hind leg. Staff continue to treat the kitten for its injuries.

Authorities charged Picaro with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony, in connection with that incident. He was awaiting arraignment at the Ontario County Jail on multiple charges.

Deputy Shanley investigated the cases with assistance from Deputy Millard, according to the sheriff’s office.
