Felony DWI arrest at Arcadia checkpoint

Deputies arrested a man during a sobriety checkpoint on a busy Arcadia roadway Friday night.

Fernando V. Rodriguez, of Vienna Road in the Town of Arcadia, was taken into custody after deputies stopped him at a checkpoint on State Route 31, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s officials said New York State Police and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office were conducting the checkpoint when deputies made the arrest around 7:40 p.m. on December 19.

Rodriguez was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a reported BAC of .24%. Deputies also charged him with felony driving while intoxicated under common law, aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device, and unlicensed operation.

Officials said Rodriguez is scheduled to appear in Wayne County CAP Court on December 20 at 7 a.m. to answer the charges.
