A Wayne County man will spend decades behind bars after prosecutors proved he sexually abused a teenager and recorded the assaults.
John C. Aldrich IV, 55, of Palmyra, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison and 10 years of supervised release after his conviction for producing child pornography, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Investigators said Aldrich abused the victim for more than a year, beginning when the child was 14. Authorities said he met with the teen weekly and filmed the assaults.
The case came to light in March after law enforcement received a tip. Investigators later recovered messages between Aldrich and the victim that detailed the abuse.
New York State Police in Lyons led the investigation alongside Homeland Security Investigations.
Prosecutors said the length of the sentence reflects the severity of the crimes and the long-term harm caused to the victim.
