Powerball Jackpot Soars to $1.25 Billion Ahead of Wednesday Drawing, Second-Largest Prize of 2025

PowerBall Jackpot at $1.25 Billion

The Powerball jackpot has climbed to a staggering $1.25 billion, making it the second-largest Powerball prize of the year as lottery fever grips the nation ahead of Wednesday night’s drawing.

The jackpot surged after no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Monday night — 23, 35, 59, 63, 68 and the red Powerball 2, according to lottery officials.

If won Wednesday, the prize would carry an estimated cash value of $572.1 million, giving the winner the choice between a lump-sum payout or annuity payments spread over 30 years.

Only the Second Time Powerball Has Reached Back-to-Back Billion-Dollar Jackpots

This historic run marks just the second time in Powerball history that the game has produced back-to-back jackpots topping $1 billion, underscoring how rare the current moment is for lottery players.

The last jackpot was won Sept. 6, when two tickets sold in Missouri and Texas split a $1.787 billion prize. Earlier, Powerball reached its all-time record of $2.04 billion in November 2022, won by California resident Edwin Castro.

Million-Dollar Winners Still Emerge as Jackpot Rolls On

While no one claimed the top prize Monday night, two tickets matched all five white balls, each winning $1 million:

  • One ticket sold in Arizona
  • One ticket sold in California

Powerball officials note that millions of smaller prizes are typically awarded in every drawing, even when the jackpot rolls over.

What to Know About the Powerball Game

According to Powerball.com, the multi-state lottery is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Key details include:

  • Ticket cost: $2 per play
  • Drawings: Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights
  • How to win: Match all five white balls (1–69) plus the red Powerball (1–26)
  • Odds of winning the jackpot: 1 in 292.2 million

Players can also add the Power Play option for an extra $1, which can multiply non-jackpot prizes.

When Is the Next Powerball Drawing?

The next drawing takes place Wednesday night, with tickets available until shortly before the draw time, depending on state rules.
