One dead, two injured in Macedon crash

A woman died and two men were injured after a two-car crash on Canandaigua Road in Macedon, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the crash happened just south of Magog Road. A northbound vehicle driven by 21-year-old Phillip Trofibio lost control and crossed into the southbound lane, hitting a car driven by 60-year-old James Howk.

Howk’s passenger, 60-year-old Tamara Newton, was taken to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Trofibio and Howk were both injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Farmington Fire Department, Macedon EMS, and Victor Farmington EMS.
