Seneca Falls officials will vote tonight on fixing a costly retirement mistake affecting two police officers, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Lt. Tom Cleere and Sgt. Bethany Kidd were hired in 2014 but placed in the wrong state retirement system. They only discovered the issue while preparing for retirement. The fix could cost the town up to $500,000 and would require raising taxes and passing state legislation.
The proposed resolution uses reserve funds for the first payment, with Councilman Jackson Puylara tasked with pushing the fix through Albany.
