The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office gathered on Tuesday, November 25, to celebrate the retirement of Investigator John Nesbit, marking the end of more than two decades of dedicated service to the community.

The ceremony, held with family, friends, and colleagues in attendance, featured a formal walkout tradition — a time-honored sendoff for retiring law enforcement officers. Sheriff Timothy Thompson, Jr. commended Nesbit for his “hard work, tenacity, and perseverance” throughout his career.
Nesbit began his law enforcement journey with the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff and steadily rose through the ranks, later serving as a Sergeant before ultimately becoming an Investigator. Over the years, he played a vital role in numerous investigations and public safety initiatives across the county.
“John has served this community for over two decades, and his contributions to public safety have made us safer,” Sheriff Thompson said. “We wish John and his family the very best in retirement.”
Nesbit’s colleagues echoed the sentiment, praising his dedication, integrity, and mentorship throughout his time with the department.
