Richmond teen accused of using stolen credit cards for over $1,000 in purchases

An 18-year-old from the Town of Richmond is facing felony charges after Ontario County Sheriff’s investigators say he used stolen credit cards to make more than $1,000 in fraudulent purchases.

Karl Tyrone Smith was arrested on November 24 at his home on Main Street in Honeoye. According to investigators, Smith had possession of two stolen credit cards and used them to rack up $1,069.35 in unauthorized charges.

Smith was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and grand larceny, both in the fourth degree. He was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charges in Canadice Town Court at a later date.

The case is being handled by Investigator Cody Boadway of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
