Former Taco Bell employee charged in Bath burglary investigation

Police arrested a Corning man this month following a months-long investigation into a burglary at a Taco Bell in the Village of Bath.

The incident happened back on August 11, 2025, when officers were called to the restaurant on West Morris Street after an employee discovered that all the money from the business safe was missing. Officers later identified the suspect as 27-year-old Dequantae J. Fisher.

According to investigators, Fisher had been terminated from his job at Taco Bell just days before the break-in. In the early morning hours of August 11, police say he unlawfully entered the building, stole over $3,000 in cash, and attempted to cover his tracks by deleting the restaurant’s security footage.

On November 19, Fisher was arrested and charged with burglary in the third degree and grand larceny in the third degree, both Class D felonies. He also faces a Class E felony charge for tampering with physical evidence.

Fisher was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for arraignment. He was released without bail.
