Skaneateles is kicking off the holiday season with two beloved events that bring music, magic, and community spirit to the heart of the village.
Skaneateles Sings returns December 5
The annual Skaneateles Sings celebration begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 5, with Father Christmas greeting families and posing for photos at the gazebo. At 6:30, candlelight caroling with Dickens Christmas characters will lead into the ceremonial lighting of the village Christmas tree.
After the tree lighting, families can head to the United Methodist Church for a festive reception featuring magic from the Prestidigitating Packwoods and a classic Punch and Judy puppet show by Jamison Boudreau. Village stores will also hold open houses throughout the evening.
From 4 to 6 p.m., the Barrow Art Gallery will host a holiday open house with live piano music and refreshments. The event is organized by the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Girl Scouts, and the Garden Club.
Shop Skaneateles set for December 11
Holiday shoppers will have a chance to support local businesses and enjoy festive perks during Shop Skaneateles on Thursday, December 11. The all-day event wraps up with a Shop, Sip, and Stroll experience from 5 to 8 p.m., when many stores will offer refreshments, free gift-wrapping, and special deals. Parking will be free across the village that evening.

The Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce extended thanks to Strawberry Fields for donating Christmas trees, the Girl Scouts for decorating, and the Village Electric Department for installing decorations.
