Arcade revival hits Newark

A massive retro arcade packed with nearly 200 games is drawing crowds on Murray Street after two collectors turned their growing hobby into a business, according to the Times of Wayne County.

Elena Kern and Derek Horton built The Arcade Project after hunting down an old Addams Family pinball machine snowballed into a 9,000-square-foot stash of ‘80s and ‘90s classics. Most games run on freeplay, and the site now includes a kitchen plus beer and wine.

The pair say they’re preserving gaming history while giving visitors a place to unplug. The arcade runs October through May and hosts parties and corporate events.
