A Central Square man is facing felony charges after police say he tried to steal a new pickup from a closed dealership — and showed up at an employee’s home pretending to be their boss.
Nicholas B. Rodriguez, 37, was arrested on November 9 after troopers responded to a trespassing call at Burdick Ford in Central Square.
They found Rodriguez sitting inside a 2025 Ford Raptor with the hood up and a jump pack on the battery. Police say he had a laptop and an OBD scanner, a device that can bypass a car’s security system.
When officers told him to get out, Rodriguez locked the doors and refused. Staff from the dealership unlocked the truck, and troopers took him into custody without a fight.
Investigators say Rodriguez had earlier gone to a Burdick Ford employee’s house, claiming he was the person’s new supervisor and demanding dealership keys.
He’s now charged with attempted grand larceny in the second degree — a felony — and third-degree stalking. Rodriguez was arraigned in Oswego County CAP Court.
