Seneca Falls officials are holding off on a key step toward a new landfill deal with Seneca Meadows, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The Town Board postponed a vote to declare itself lead agency under the state’s environmental review process for a proposed host agreement tied to a landfill expansion. The deal would bring the town millions—starting with a $1 million upfront payment and escalating to $12 million annually—if the expansion gets state approval.
The plan replaces a 2007 deal and adds stricter oversight, higher fees per ton of waste, and environmental mitigation steps. A final decision is expected after agencies respond by December 8.
