More than 250,000 New Yorkers hit the polls during the first weekend of early voting, according to Spectrum News 1.
The state Board of Elections reported over 258,000 ballots cast by Sunday — with 164,000 coming from New York City alone, where a hotly watched mayoral race is underway. Upstate counties like Erie and Monroe saw thousands turn out as well.
The early vote total already surpasses the entire early turnout from the 2023 off-year election, showing growing use of early voting, which New York adopted in 2019. Voters have until Sunday, Nov. 2 to cast ballots before Election Day on Nov. 4.
