South Bristol hosts first-ever concert to boost local voting

For the first time ever, music and civic engagement are coming together in South Bristol.

This Sunday, October 19, at 3 p.m., the town will host a free “Get Out the Vote” concert at The Woods on Route 21, overlooking Canandaigua Lake. The event is organized by Citizens for South Bristol and headlined by local favorite Aaron Lipp.

The concert is part rally, part celebration, and all about raising voter awareness. It also supports candidates Lisa Moore, Chris Abraham, and Jamie Hall, who are running for local office with backing from Citizens for South Bristol.

Instead of a ticket, attendees are asked to bring a shelf-stable food donation to benefit the Naples Open Cupboard. Food and drinks from local producers will be served by Lock Stock Bar & Grill, which will donate part of the proceeds to the same cause.

The event comes at a key moment for South Bristol politics. After 23 years, longtime Town Supervisor Dan Marshall is stepping down, and this year’s race is the town’s first contested supervisor election in decades.

“In presidential years, voter turnout here can reach 70 percent,” said supervisor candidate Lisa Moore. “But in local election years, it often falls below 40 percent. This concert is about bringing people together and inspiring our neighbors to get out and vote.”

Citizens for South Bristol is a nonpartisan coalition made up of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Greens, and Libertarians focused on lake protection, quality of life, and transparent governance.

Former congressional candidate Nate McMurray will be on site to record interviews for The Sound of Niagara podcast. The venue, The Woods, is a community farm run on permaculture and regenerative practices.
