A planned rally backing Seneca Falls’ landfill closure law has been postponed, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The event was set for Oct. 15 to support Local Law 3-2016, which orders Seneca Meadows landfill to shut down by year’s end. The state’s highest court upheld the law in April, but the landfill hasn’t moved to close — and town officials haven’t enforced it.
Instead, the town is considering a new deal with the landfill that would bring in more money but extend operations through 2040.
