Dozens of RG&E and NYSEG customers packed a public hearing in Sodus this week to blast proposed delivery rate hikes, according to The Times of Wayne County.
Locals called the increases unaffordable — especially with plans to close in-person service centers. One resident said their delivery charge nearly doubled their supply cost. Others shared frustrations that only in-person help had resolved billing issues.
The proposed hikes would raise monthly RG&E electric bills by $33 and NYSEG’s by $33.12. Gas rates would jump by 22% to 33%. The utilities argue the money is needed to upgrade aging infrastructure and support state energy goals.
