Young players ready to step behind the plate will take center stage this weekend at Practice Time Sports.
The September 20–21 clinics focus on catching — one of baseball and softball’s most challenging and overlooked roles. Open to ages 6–16, the sessions cover everything from receiving and blocking to throw-downs and managing the game.
“Every team needs reliable catchers, but few players train for the position,” said Chris Harris, owner and operator of Practice Time Sports. “Even a basic understanding of catching makes a player invaluable, and for some kids, it’s the position that clicks.”
As with all clinics in the series, sessions are split by age: 6–11 in the morning (10:30 a.m.–Noon) and 12–16 in the early afternoon (12:30–2:00 p.m.). Each group is capped at 15 athletes to make sure coaches can provide individual feedback.
Small groups, big gains
The personalized format has become a hallmark of the Practice Time program. Parents and players say it strikes a sweet spot between one-on-one instruction and team-level energy.
It’s also a chance for motivated athletes to train alongside others who want to grow their game. That mix of focus and community, Harris says, helps players build both skill and confidence.
This marks week three of the four-part clinic series. The final weekend will turn to pitching — another technical skill that needs focused attention to develop properly.
Each session costs $25, or families can bundle remaining clinics at a discounted rate.
