As it pushes to expand, Seneca Meadows landfill is also seeking to renew its state operating permit through 2040, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The DEC confirmed it received the permit application in June. The landfill, New York’s largest, is set to hit capacity by Dec. 31 — the same day its current permit and a 2016 local law require it to shut down. SMI is fighting that law in court.
A public comment period will be scheduled once the application and environmental review are deemed complete.
