A convicted murderer is now facing new charges after allegedly strangling his cellmate to death at Five Points Correctional Facility, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Kevin Farley, 42, was indicted Wednesday for first-degree murder in the December killing of Adam Lafferty, who was found dead with deep ligature marks. Farley, already serving 24 years to life for a 2015 murder, had reportedly made incriminating statements. Lafferty had warned in letters he believed his life was in danger due to his civil rights complaints.
Farley remains in custody. The state is still investigating how a nonviolent offender like Lafferty was placed with a known killer.
