Sterling woman arrested for violating protection order, child endangerment

Deputies arrested a Sterling woman last week after responding to a domestic incident that violated an active court order and put a child at risk.

Tina Goodluck, 49, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and endangering the welfare of a child after an altercation at a residence in the Town of Sterling on August 18, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. after a third-party caller reported a domestic dispute in progress. When they arrived, they found a man with injuries and determined that Goodluck — who had a stay-away order of protection in place — had been involved in the altercation.

Goodluck was found on the property shortly after, along with her minor child. Both adults were taken to Auburn Community Hospital with minor injuries.

After being evaluated, Goodluck was processed at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building. While there, Auburn Police executed an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was later arraigned and remanded to the county jail.

Multiple agencies assisted in the investigation, including New York State Police, Child Protective Services, the District Attorney’s Office, and local fire and ambulance crews.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app.
