Ontario County seeks public feedback on 10-year waste plan

Ontario County is asking residents to weigh in as it updates its Local Solid Waste Management Plan (LSWMP), which will guide recycling and waste reduction efforts for the next decade.

The plan will set countywide goals for environmentally safe and economically sustainable waste management, including overall reduction targets and progress tracking.

Survey open through September 14

An online survey is available at bandl.mysocialpinpoint.com/ontario-county-lswmp and through ontariocountyrecycles.org. Residents can share feedback, answer polls, and leave general comments. More than 300 people have already participated.

“The development of a comprehensive LSWMP will provide Ontario County with policy and program direction for the next decade,” said Carla Jordan, Director of the county’s Department of Sustainability and Solid Waste Management.

Jordan added that residents, businesses, municipalities, and state regulators all play key roles in shaping waste and recycling programs.

The department provides year-round resources to help the community reduce waste and recycle more effectively.
