With nearly 900,000 attendees expected, the Great New York State Fair is boosting security measures ahead of its August return, according to CNY Central.
Organizers introduced a new text alert system to keep fairgoers informed. By texting “NYSF” to 888-777, visitors can receive real-time safety updates. To further protect crowds, unauthorized vehicles are now banned from parades and new barriers will block vehicle access to pedestrian areas.
Emergency drills are also underway, as state agencies rehearse real-life response scenarios in preparation for the 13-day event.
