Pet owners in Cayuga County can get their animals vaccinated against rabies at no cost during a clinic later this month in Auburn.
The Cayuga County Health Department and the Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York will host the free rabies vaccination clinic on Friday, August 22, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Fingerlakes Mall, 1579 Clark Street Road. The clinic will be located in the northwest corner of the mall. Entry is only available from the outside—there will be no access from inside the mall.
Dogs, cats, and ferrets that are at least four months old are eligible. Dogs must be leashed and muzzled if necessary. Cats and ferrets must be in carriers, with a limit of one animal per carrier.
Participants must bring proof of previous vaccination in order to receive a three-year rabies certificate. Rabies tags will not be accepted as proof. Ferrets will receive one-year certificates only.
Registration is not required, but it is preferred. For more information or to register, residents can contact the Finger Lakes SPCA of Central New York at 315-253-5841.
