Spirit Halloween is back in 2025—and bigger than ever in New York. With dozens of vacant storefronts left behind by recent retail closures, the seasonal chain is launching more than 70 temporary stores across the state beginning in August, with more locations opening in September.
The popular retailer, known for its costumes, decorations, animatronics, and makeup, is taking over former sites once occupied by Party City, Rite Aid, Joann, and other national chains.
When are Spirit Halloween stores opening?

According to Spirit Halloween, the company has spent more than four decades creating “immersive and interactive experiences” for Halloween shoppers of all ages.
