A Farmington man was arrested Wednesday evening after a crash led deputies to suspect he was driving under the influence of drugs.
Alan S. Pritchard III, 55, was taken into custody around 7:51 p.m. following a rear-end property damage collision near the intersection of State Route 332 and County Road 41.
Deputies said Pritchard failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests and was determined to be impaired by drugs. A further search revealed two types of pills in his possession, both of which were identified as controlled substances and not stored in a prescription bottle.
Pritchard was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, following too closely, and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was released with tickets and is scheduled to appear in Farmington Town Court at a later date.
