Buffalo man sentenced to 20 years for fatal fentanyl sales

A Buffalo man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for selling fentanyl that caused multiple overdoses, including two that proved fatal.

Davon Mitchell, also known as “Blu Boyy,” was convicted of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes. U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr. handed down the sentence Monday in Buffalo.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Evan K. Glaberson, Mitchell began distributing fentanyl, methamphetamine, and crack cocaine in 2019 to customers across Western New York. Between March and May of 2022, he sold drugs to an undercover officer on multiple occasions. After his arrest on June 1, 2022, a search of Mitchell’s home uncovered drugs, cash, a revolver, and ammunition.

Mitchell admitted that fentanyl he distributed led to the overdose deaths of two individuals and caused three non-fatal overdoses in another person.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Buffalo Police Department, the West Seneca Police Department, and the New York State Police.
